World's smallest fish

The Paedocypris progenetica is now the world's smallest fish on record. It has been discovered by scientists in forest swamps of Indonesian Island of Sumatra that is only 7.9mm long. It is considered as the world's smallest vertebrate or backboned animal and is a member of a carp family. Paedocypris feed on plankton on pools of extremely acidic water in tropical forest swamps.

Before, the world's smallest fish which is Pandaka pygmaea was found in the Philippines in Malabon river but now, it is no longer considered to be one.

Oh and your word verification is taking ages to load. I will try again. There has been a problem with many people's blogs with it. I had to change my setting because it was playing up so much! :(

  15. I remember memorizing the name Pandaka pygmae herra in my elementary civis class, so proud that the Philippines was host to such a wonder. Now, over 20 years later, it seems I have something new to stuff into my overcrowded brain. Hahahaha.

Very interesting site. Will get my son to take a look at this, he loves these kind of information.
